Feel the Beat: Let's Drum Ensembles

Tired of your kids taking out all of your pots and pans to make a drum set?  Send them to Let’s Drum!  The Let’s Drum Ensembles are perfect for kids who love music and want to make some noise!

The students will have a blast playing drums from around the world including the big Japanese taiko, Caribbean steel pans, African drums, bucket drumming to rock music and much much more! The Let’s Drum ensembles are a great way for students to learn a variety of new instruments, express creativity and play as a group.

There are two different ensembles available (based on age):

Ages 7-9 (Thursdays 4:45pm-5:30pm)

Ages 10+ (Thursdays 5:35pm-6:20pm)

2018/2019 Dates: Sep 20 - Dec 6 | Jan 17 - April 11
Final Concerts: Dec 11 at 5:00pm and April 16 at 5:00pm in Casa ATB Community Room
NOTE: No class: Feb 21

W.H.I.P. We Hit It Percussion

The brand new W.H.I.P. Percussion Ensemble is an enthusiastic group of young percussionists dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. The goal of the group is to create a community of musicians who are drawn together to develop and share their passion for music. We strive to enhance the talents of students who have discovered a passion for music and excellence.

Instructor: Joe Porter

Ages: Students must be in Grade 7-12 to participate.

Time: Tuesdays 4:30pm-6:30pm at Casa

Feel the Beat: Let's Drum Annual Summer Camp

The annual Let's Drum Camp is the perfect summer activity to have fun! We have week-long half-day camps for ages 7-10 and a week-long all day camp for ages 11-16. There is also a great weekend camp for adults!

Beginner and experienced drummers are welcome!

SummerCamp

Young Artist Percussion Academy

The Young Artists Music Academy is an intensive, enriching performance-based program available to teenaged classical strings players, percussionists, pianists and vocalists. It includes several activities per week that aim to expand the awareness, skills and experiences of the classical musician. This program will optimize the success of our most dedicated and gifted young musicians. The 2018-19 application period will begin in June.

Global Drums

Be swept away to the Caribbean, Japan, South Pacific, Africa and Brazil with Global Drums. Let our ensembles transport you around the world with performances by our Steel Band, Polynesian Ensemble, African Drumming & Dancing, Japanese Taiko Group, Brazilian Samba Batteria and Classical Percussion Ensemble.

Global Drums has an expansive collection of instruments from around the world. It is the only ensemble of its type in Canada and has quickly grown in international demand and notoriety. Performances include tours to Japan, Hawaii, Trinidad, the Netherlands, England and Hong Kong. Global Drums has also performed in the Calgary Stampede Parade, a nationally televised performance and two tours to the Gulf Coast Caribbean Festival in Florida. Members of the ensemble have additionally participated in competition and conferences in Germany, Texas, Ohio, and Indiana.
